Atlanta Honors the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

From December 1st through 10th 2008, the Center for Civil and Human Rights will present a series of programs to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). 60 Yeares of Progress 10 Days of Recognition: Atlanta Honors the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
On the tenth day of December 1948, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) for all people and all nations. In the UDHR, the United Nations stated in clear and simple terms rights that belong equally to every person. The 60th anniversary of the proclamation and adoption of this historic document represents a unique opportunity for Atlantan’s to learn about the UDHR and reflect on its principles.
During this 10 day commemoration throughout the city of Atlanta there will be events focusing on arts and culture as well as education. There will also be opportunities for direct action.

Wednesday December 3, 2008 The Carter Center Cecil B. Day Chapel 7pm • Children’s Art and Writing Contest: READ IT. EMBRACE IT. EXPRESS IT.
