I had the privilege of speaking to the Korean American Coalition Convention recently held in Atlanta and hosted by the Atlanta chapter of KAC.  The theme of the convention was, SHARING THE DREAM... MAKING IT A REALITY which matches well with the spirit of history and contemporary impact that is driving the development of the Center.

Many people have asked, "Why put a Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta?"  I usually talk about the heritage of Atlanta that many people know-- Martin Luther King, Jr., Atlanta as a headquarters for so many Civil Rights organizations including the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee plus the Carter Center, CNN and CARE USA among many others.

I wanted to go a bit deeper in the keynote address to the KAC convention. This brief clip outlines a few of the themes that are beneath just telling a history-- the idea that we each have a responsibility to "bend the universe in the direction of justice" (pulling from Dr. King's words), the unsung heroes that the Center will elevate and the hope that so many activists had that both oppressed and oppressor would be liberated through nonviolent change.  For me-- the hope that resistance could and would help everyone be better and moral is such an act of hope, it's almost beyond belief.

Enjoy the clip and let us know what parts of Atlanta and Georgia represent hope for rights.  Here is the podcast...
