King Papers Society Celebration
On August 16, 2007 the King Papers Society held a celebration at Pak Tavern. Xernona Clayton, Mayor Shirley Franklin, Ambassador Andrew Young and Reverend C.T. Vivian were among those who spoke during the reception. Reverend Vivian and Ambassador Young spoke of Martin Luther King’s legacy, the importance of the King Papers remaining in Atlanta, and the significance of current efforts to build the Center for Civil and Human Rights and commemorate Atlanta’s contributions to the Civil Rights movement.
